About NPTEL
NPTEL is an acronym for National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning which is an initiative by seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) for creating course contents in engineering and science. NPTEL provides E-learning through online Web and Video courses in Engineering, Science and Humanities streams.
NPTEL Open Online courses were initiated so that students anywhere can directly learn from faculty in top colleges. While enrollment and learning is free, students can also obtain a certificate from the IITs, based on successful completion of an exam, for which there is a nominal examination fee. Online learning offers a new way to explore subjects that one is passionate about.
Students will learn for free, Learn Together and Learn from the Experts The courses have no eligibility criteria and are open to anyone and everyone. Students can review and assess their progress and directly interact with course instructors to understand concepts better. An optional in-person proctored certification exam is offered at the end of the course to earn certificates from the IITs.
MITS Achievements
Our college has established NPTEL Local chapter with IIT Madras since 2015. Many of our students enroll online courses and take the proctored exam and get the certificates. More than three lakh students from around the world enroll and take the exams. Our students compete and performed well with toppers in the nation and scored elite, silver, gold category.
As per AICTE/UGC guidelines, every semester, the learner can credit courses from SWAYAM MOOCs up to 20 % which usually translates to 1 course per semester.
Based on the students' performance NPTEL ranks the rating of the college. Every semester our College consistently getting “AAA” rating since July- Dec 2016 among 5000+ Local chapter colleges. In continuation with that MITS was awarded 8th position with AAA rating in the Country for the period of July – Oct 2023.
MITS achieved AAA rating of National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) consecutively for the seventh time. NPTEL rates the Universities and Colleges based on their performance in Swayam-NPTEL online certificate courses. This rating is given based on the scores attained by the students.
